Redcord’s Neuromuscular Activation (Neurac)

Physiotherapists at PhysioTrain have undertaken additional training and are qualified to offer a unique treatment method for musculoskeletal disorders called Redcord Neurac, which is short for  “Neuromuscular Activation”.  The Redcord Neurac approach was developed in Norway more than 20 years ago and is now available in Australia.

Neurac consists of specially tailored exercises and techniques in Redcord slings that aim to restore functional and pain free movement patterns in the body through high levels of neuromuscular stimulation. Studies have shown that pain and/or inactivity can disturb the signals for neuromuscular control (the brain’s capacity to switch on the right muscles at the right strength at the right time). This leads to impaired muscle interaction and decreased strength and quality of movement. As a result, some muscles become stressed, strained and painful. The Neurac method focuses on neuromuscular re-education to activate, normalise and strengthen the muscle interaction. Often dramatic reduction of pain and immediate improvement of function can be experienced in clients receiving Neurac treatment.

Many fitness enthusiasts have tried different types of suspension training such as TRX, Roman Rings or the Rip 360. Redcord Neurac is a form of suspension training that is unique because it uses bungee cords to unload the body, allowing quite challenging exercises to be done safely by anyone from high level athletes to those with ongoing injuries.

PhysioTrain installed its first Redcord equipment in 2010 at the Brighton and Middle Park studios, and since then our practitioners have been achieving excellent results for clients.  Many clients have initially come to see us for injuries such as sore necks or bad backs, but after recovering from their initial pain choose to make Redcord training with PhysioTrain part of their weekly maintenance, fitness or wellness routine.

Neurac treatment is pain free. The exercises can be hard and challenging, but should be executed with full quality and control. To prevent relapses and secure a long-term effect, PhysioTrain advises treatment should be accompanied by exercise in small groups and later home training using Redcord slings.

Neurac treatment has proven effective for musculoskeletal disorders such as:

• Lower back pain

• Neck pain (ie Whiplash, stiff neck/headache)

• Shoulder/arm pain (ie. Impingement,, Tennis elbow)

• Hip/pelvic pain (ie. Pelvic girdle pain)

Please contact us if you would like more information of how Redcord can help you achieve better function and less pain.
