GLA:D® exercise program

Osteoarthritis is the most common lifestyle condition affecting people 65 years of age and older, but it can also affect people as young as 30. An alarming number of people are undergoing surgery for knee or hip pain, but research shows that the GLA:D® education and exercise program can help people avoid joint replacement surgery.

The best first treatment for hip and knee osteoarthritis

GLA:D®, Good Life with osteoArthritis: Denmark, is an education and exercise program developed by researchers in Denmark for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms.

Our GLA:D® program

Our six-week GLA:D programs include:

  • 1 x 30-minute initial assessment
  • 2 x 1 hour education sessions
  • 12 x 1 hours Physio supervised exercise classes over 6 weeks

The GLA:D® exercises are a set of 10 exercises, plus warm-up and cool-down, aimed at improving the strength and function around your hips and knees.  Sessions are run in small groups of around four to six people.

In each session, the same exercises are done by each person at the level appropriate for them.

Our sessions are run by experienced physiotherapists who have been trained by GLA:D® Australia.

The program costs $585 and private health insurance rebates apply.
