Rehabilitation exercise classes
Our exercise programs that feature clinical pilates, are developed by Physiotherapists, which means you’ll always perform exercises that are suitable for your injury, body and fitness goals.
More than 30 classes a week
Safe and challenging clinical pilates exercises
We believe that specific, tailored exercise programs are one of the most effective ways to strengthen your body’s weak spots, build flexibility and improve resilience to help reduce the chance of injury. We run 60-minute small group exercise classes – often referred to as clinical pilates – with expert Physiotherapists who can prescribe exercise programs for the gym or home.
How do the classes work?
What to expect
Our exercise rehabilitation classes, often known as Clinical Pilates, begin with a thorough, 30-minute one-on-one assessment with a physiotherapist. We will review your injury history, your goals, and current strength, flexibility, and fitness levels to determine the best pathway for your rehabilitation. Some individuals with complex injury histories may require additional one-on-one sessions.
Class structure
– Begins with one-on-one assessment. Book here.
– Led by Physios: Our Physios are qualified and experienced, and have additional training in Clinical Pilates, strength training, and Redcord suspension exercise.
– Small Group Classes: Maximum of four participants.
– Tailored Programs: Each client follows their own individualised exercise program, specifically designed for their injury history and fitness goals.
– Can be claimed with private health insurance: As these groups are small, clients receive lots of individual, one-on-one attention from a fully qualified Physiotherapist. This is not a “follow-the-leader” type of class.
Our unique approach
Classes at PhysioTrain combine three key modalities to create a unique and effective Clinical Pilates and exercise rehab format you won’t find anywhere else.
1. Clinical Pilates
This program uses modified traditional Pilates exercises to help injury management and has a strong reputation for managing lower back pain and other injuries. It emphasises good posture, breathing, core strength, and controlled movement. We use Stott brand reformers, a Trapeze table, Wunda chair, Pilates rings and other pieces of Pilates equipment that add complexity and variation to your program.
2. Strength Training
Our classes include traditional gym exercises like squats, deadlifts, and planks, making it perfect for those training for sports or athletic goals. We also integrate high-low cable machines for cross-body and rotational movements, along with free weights, kettlebells, and other strength training equipment. While it may not be as intense as your local CrossFit gym, this environment is ideal for mastering proper squatting and lifting techniques, as well as building the strength needed for both athletic performance and daily activities.
3. Redcord Suspension
Redcord takes suspension training to a new level, combining more than 20 years of research and clinical expertise. Using ropes, bungee cords, and slings, it supports your body weight to help you move better and with more control. The focus is on movement quality, not intensity – making it safe and effective for people of all ages, abilities, and injury histories.
Redcord training blends three key elements:
1. Unstable movement using ropes
2. Weight-bearing exercises
3. Three-dimensional movement patterns
This unique combination helps restore muscle coordination, improve balance, and build deep core strength – especially after injury or pain.
Recover with exercise
The best health results are achieved when you play an active role in your recover from pain and injury.
We encourage our clients to combine their treatment with evidence-based rehabilitation exercises. Our rehabilitation classes feature clinical pilates and Redcord suspension exercises.
